August Books of the Month
August Books of the Month are two children’s books my 4-year-old loves and a book for parents and guardians to read for fun.
Paloma’s August Books of the Month
Puppy Bus by Drew Brockington is available here at Amazon
This book has become one of Paloma’s favorite. We went to our local library and have read it multiple times every day since we got it. She loved it so much that we had to buy it on Amazon to add it to her library
It is about a boy who moves to his new neighborhood and takes the wrong bus to school. What I liked about the book is that it is about the jitters of the first day of school. Written in a funny but relatable way.
All Are Welcome, written by Alexandria Penfold and illustrated by Suzanne Kaufman available at Amazon.
Since Paloma will be starting her first year in preschool; we are reading this book to prepare for the first day of school. It is recommended by the National Education Association and written by Alexandria Penfold, a New York Times best-selling children’s book author.
All Are Welcome is a book about children’s day at school, their activities, and at home. Suzanne Kaufman does a great job with her illustrations to include everyone. She gives the sense that everyone is welcome no matter their color of skin, religion, family, or ability. Alexandria Penfold uses rhyming stanzas that makes for a great read-aloud and for early readers.
August Book of the Month
Happy Place by Emily Henry is available at Amazon
It’s a book about a couple, Harriet and Wyn who split 6 months ago and never told their friends. Now, their annual friend reunion will take place one last time. Harriet and Wyn need to pretend like they are still together. Will they be able to pull it off?
I chose this novel because it sounded like a great summer read. It was also in Oprah’s Book Club, Reese’s Book Club, and New York Times book lists. It was also the Editor’s Choice for Amazon Kindle Books.
